The aim of this paper is to throw the light on the emergence of cinematic adaptation of literature at
present time. It also discusses the points related to the adaptation, its definition and codes of film
adaptation. The paper gives the brief analysis of ‘Shatranj Ke Khiladi’ film and how it shows feudal
Indian culture through visual presentation. It deals with the historical events and incidents of British
Raj in India with strong evidences and documents.
